WALK FOR THE FUTURE

Sunday, October 27

Jewish Community Campus of Rockland

On Sunday, October 27, the Rockland Jewish Community Campus, home to JCC Rockland, Rockland Jewish Family Service, Jewish Federation and Foundation of Rockland, and the local office of Israel Bonds will host a "Marathon Walk", 26.2 miles which will start and end at the Campus in West Nyack and will travel through the streets of Clarkstown. Why a marathon? We have been raising capital for 24 years since the acquisition of our first Campus on Route 45 in Ramapo. A marathon symbolizes our long hard effort to raise capital and besides, everyone else does 5k walks!

The last time the community walked together for the Jewish Community Campus was in June, 2007 when we walked the “Walk To The Future” from Ramapo to our home in West Nyack (9 miles). This walk is “Walk For Our Future” as our home in West Nyack “is” our future.

If you can’t walk the entire marathon, but the Campus is important to you there are other options. You can walk a half marathon, 13.1 miles or a final mile option. Finally, we accept “virtual walkers” or people who want to raise money for this cause who will walk another day in honor of the Campus. You can walk by yourself, with a family member or friend, or even as a team. We want our walkers to represent the entire Rockland Jewish and greater community.

All funds raised will benefit the Jewish Community Campus capital campaign which will be kicked off on the evening of October 27. Our goal will be to raise $180,000! Each walker has their own fundraising commitment based on which walk they participate in. For details, please email Rachel Appell, our walk coordinator at rachela@jccrockland.org

Thank you all for your support and leadership. Together, we will work to secure the future of our Jewish Community Campus.

A WORD FROM DAVID KIRSCHTEL

CEO of JCC Rockland

On Sunday, October 27, I will be walking a Marathon, 26.2 miles on behalf of the Jewish Community Campus.

I will be walking in honor of Ankie Spitzer who has inspired me to believe you can never give up when you believe in a cause and I believe in the future of our Jewish community Campus.

As the CEO of the JCC and the Campus (Home of Rockland Jewish Family Service, JCC Rockland, Jewish Federation and Foundation, Israel Bonds) and home to the entire community, I believe it is critical that we secure the future of the Campus. In June I began my 20th year as the CEO and have established a goal to raise $20,000!

Please support me with a generous donation today so that we can demonstrate strong support for the Campus.

Thank you in advance for your support.

David

P.S. Please help our community secure our future!

Our History

What is the Rockland Jewish Community Campus History?

Jewish Community Campus of Rockland

In 1997, the Rockland Jewish community raised $5 million to purchase its first Rockland Jewish Community Campus (RJCC). It was a 26,000 sq. ft. building on 5.5 acres on Route 45 in the Town of Ramapo. The Campus thrived and outgrew the existing space.

A new larger home was desperately needed. A group of Jewish leaders, who understood the invaluable role the Campus played on enriching Jewish life, had a shared vision of a larger Campus. They each invested their time and financial resources and began a Capital Campaign to purchase the former Champion Paper Company site with a 135,000 sq. ft. building on 15 acres in West Nyack. The campus would be large enough to serve the current and future generations of Rockland Jewish Families, as well the greater Rockland community.

The Rockland Jewish Community Campus opened on December 2, 2007 with both American and Israel flags visible as you drove onto the Campus, as well as visible from the New York Thruway. Even though there was a snowstorm that day, 5,000 plus community members came out to tour the new home of the Rockland Jewish Community Campus at 450 West Nyack Road in West Nyack.

Today, as you walk through the doors of the Rockland Jewish Community Campus you receive a warm welcome and see smiles from people of all ages, many of whom call the Campus their second home. You know you have entered a place where the entire Rockland County community is welcomed and Jewish life thrives.
